Charset

syntax summary

Meta tags provide metadata for your website.

The meta charset tag provides your website with the information of what character set you want your website to have.

how we do...

Okay, this isn't going to be glamorous or fun, but it is important and really easy. Your charset meta tag will look like this...

<meta charset="utf-8">

Don't worry about what the utf-8 means, just know that signifies that you want to use characters of type that you are reading right now.

You will place this meta tag right after the opening head tag, as so...

<!DOCTYPE html>
<html>
  <head>
    <meta charset="utf-8">
  </head>
</html>

That's pretty much it, as I said, nothing pretty, but nothing hard, but really important. I'll cover other meta tags later on, so stayed tuned.
